What Is Family Mediation?
If you are going through a divorce or separation from your ex partner, this can be a tough time for you and for your loved ones. Finding common ground with them can be tough.
If you live in the Shropshire region and you are finding it hard to move on with your life following a relationship breakdown, then family mediation in Shrewsbury and Telford can help both yourself and your ex-partner to agree a plan of action to ensure life runs as smoothly as possible.
Mediation provides a safe space to have a discussion around challenging aspects of family life, including managing joint assets and finances, and making child arrangements which is supervised by a trained and accredited mediation specialist.
How Our Family Mediation Service Works
Family mediation can be carried out on a flexible schedule. We can even offer same day consultations and MIAMs where available.
Find solutions through mediation in 3 simple steps through our streamlined approach:
Stage 1
Book your free consultation. This initial call helps our mediation experts to understand more about your current situation, and to help you decide if mediation is the right course of action
Stage 2
Next up will be your MIAM. A MIAM helps our Shropshire mediation specialists to dive deeper into what you would like to gain through mediation, so they know the relevant topics and questions to address on your joint calls.
Stage 3
Yourself and your ex-partner will then attend pre-arranged joint meetings. Through these joint meetings, with the help of the mediator you’ll be able to reach an agreement.
Our family mediation service also includes
- Key summaries of your meetings
- A free guide into mediation, what’s involved and how it works
- Your own accredited mediation expert to manage your case
We Offer Same Day MIAM Appointments
We can often provide same day MIAM appointments where available. These meetings assist you with getting a MIAM certificate quickly.
These appointments fill up quickly, so be sure to book your MIAM straightaway to guarantee the time that works for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Mediation can seem like a complex process but it doesn’t need to be. You can find answers to common questions we get asked about our mediation service below:
Do I have to be in the same room as my ex-partner in mediation?
No. Mediation can be provided online and in some instances via the telephone, even putting you in separate calls which is known as shuttle mediation where the mediator will go back and forth relaying items from the discussion. Many of our clients prefer this option as they don’t wish to hear or see their ex-partner.
Do I need to attend mediation when I just need the MIAM Certificate?
You would attend a one to one meeting with a mediator known as a MIAM, in order to obtain your MIAM Certificate either for your Form A or C100 application. There are only a small number of cases where individuals do not have to attend a MIAM before making an application to the court.
Once you have attended a MIAM you can decide whether you want us to provide the MIAM Certificate.
