															What is Family Mediation?
Communicating and making decisions with your ex partner can be difficult. It can have a significant impact on your own and your families well being and mental health. Important decisions that affect yourself and your children such as child arrangements, managing finances and assets such as your home can be made harder if you don’t have an agreement in place that is fair for both parties.
Our specialist team provides a Derby family mediation service, allowing you to book and attend flexible appointments, which helps you to meet with a mediator at a time that suits you, to achieve the best possible outcome.

How Our Family Mediation Service Works
Step 1
Book your free consultation and schedule your initial appointment. This fact finding call will help us to understand what issues you are having and whether mediation is right for you.
Step 2
Once you have had your initial call, you can then book in a MIAM. In this meeting the mediator is able to provide you with more information specific to your situation, and get an understanding of the issues you want to raise with your ex partner to get an agreement on.
Step 3
We will schedule your joint mediation sessions at a convenient time for you and your ex-partner, and help you to reach a solution and written agreement.
As standard, our mediation process also includes:
Summaries between joint mediation sessions (where applicable)
A Preparation Guide to help you get ready for your first mediation session
An highly qualified team of mediators and administrators, who will support you at every step of the way
Tailored information specific to your current situation, which will be provided to you in the MIAM.
We Offer Same Day MIAM Appointments
Same day MIAM appointments are available. These are useful if you are looking to get a MIAM certificate quickly. We can book you on the same day you call, which is great if you have a tight schedule due to work, other commitments, urgent issues you want to discuss, or just because you want to get started in the mediation process and ultimately the rest of your life.
These appointments fill up fast, so please book your MIAM as soon as possible to ensure you get the appointment on the day and time that works best for you.

What Our Clients Say
“When it came to the day of mediation, I felt understood, confident and as if the outcome would be positive. Without their help in preparing me for the mediation, I don’t feel the outcome would have been as positive as it was.”

Ministry Of Justice Voucher Scheme
We are proud to be a part of the Ministry of Justice’s voucher scheme, where you might receive up to £500.00 towards your mediation case.
The voucher scheme is live for a limited time to support people in using mediation to resolve issues concerning child arrangements.
Only family mediators who the Family Mediation Council accredits are taking part in the voucher scheme.
If you would like to know whether you are eligible, you will need to book a MIAM.
															Frequently Asked Questions
Mediation can seem like a complex process but it doesn’t need to be. You can find answers to common questions we get asked about our mediation service below:
I don’t have children. Can I still use mediation?

Yes – many couples use mediation to sort out finances when going through divorce, to find out their options when their relationship is reaching the end or to have an open and frank discussion with their ex-partner about their future.
Do I need to attend mediation when I just need the MIAM Certificate?

You would need to attend a mediation information assessment meeting in order to obtain your MIAM Certificate either for your Form A or C100 application. There are only a small number of cases where individuals do not have to attend a MIAM before making an application to the court.
Once you have attended a MIAM you can decide whether you want us to provide the MIAM Certificate.
