How Our Family Mediation Service Works

Our family mediation service couldn’t be easier. Through 3 easy steps our mediation experts can help guide both yourself and your ex partner to a solution:

Step 1

Book your free consultation and schedule your initial pre-MIAM appointment. This quick call helps us take note of who you are, and ensure that mediation is suitable for you.

Step 2

After the initial call, you can go ahead and schedule in a MIAM. A MIAM call helps our Cardiff mediation experts to figure out what the key issues you are experiencing are, and they will take note of the main challenges to discuss on the joint calls.

Step 3

You attend your joint sessions with your ex-partner present, you can then have a balanced discussion with the help of a mediator to discuss your key issues on both sides and work to form a written agreement which everybody is mutually invested in.

Besides the above, our Cardiff family mediation service also includes:

  • Summaries of your key joint meetings (where applicable)

  • Your own copy of our “Mediation Preparation Guide” so you can understand more about what mediation involves and what to expect from your calls.

  • Your own mediation specialist to manage your case, who will work to help you reach an agreement with your ex partner.

  • Information included in the MIAM that is specific to your situation, including written agreements to take forward based on the outcome of your joint sessions.

We Offer Same Day MIAM Appointments

Where possible, we can offer same day MIAM appointments. These sessions help you to get a MIAM certificate as quickly as possible. We aim to work quickly with you and even if you have not had a pre-assessment call, we can sometimes facilitate both a pre-assessment and MIAM appointment on the same day, call our team or use our booking portal to see what times are available.

These appointments fill up fast, so please book your MIAM as soon as possible to ensure you get the appointment on the day and time that works best for you.

What Our Clients Say

“When it came to the day of mediation, I felt understood, confident and as if the outcome would be positive. Without their help in preparing me for the mediation, I don’t feel the outcome would have been as positive as it was.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Mediation can seem like a complex process but it doesn’t need to be. You can find answers to common questions we get asked about our mediation service below:

I don’t have children. Can I still use mediation?

Couples who are in the process of separation or divorce can use mediation but this is relationship / divorce mediation which we can offer as opposed to family mediation which handles sensitive issues around children and family life.

You would need to attend a mediation information assessment meeting in order to obtain your MIAM Certificate either for your Form A or C100 application. There are only a small number of cases where individuals do not have to attend a MIAM before making an application to the court.

Once you have attended a MIAM you can decide whether you want us to provide the MIAM Certificate.
